POST /eth/v2/beacon/blocks

Publish a signed block

Tells the beacon node to broadcast a freshly signed beacon block to the beacon network so that it can be added to the beacon chain. If the response is 20x, it means that the block was successfully broadcast across the network and passed gossip validation. The beacon node may broadcast the block ahead of time to help with timely block delivery, even though it is also anticipated that it will incorporate the block into the state. In the event that the block is deemed to have failed integration but succeeded in broadcasting, an additional success response code (202) is employed. This additionally directs the beacon node to broadcast all provided blobs after Deneb. The broadcast_validation query parameter allows you to modify the broadcast behavior.

Example Request and Result for /v2/beacon/blocks

In this section, we provide an illustrative example of a request made to retrieve details contents using the /v2/beacon/blocks endpoint. Additionally, we present the resulting response containing information about publishing a signed block.

Parameters

Fields	Type	Description
Eth-Consensus-Version	string	Version of the block being submitted, if using SSZ encoding. Available values : phase0, altair, bellatrix, capella, deneb
broadcast_validation	string	Level of validation that must be applied to a block before it is broadcast.

Possible values for broadcast_validation param*:*

• gossip (default): lightweight gossip checks only
• consensus: full consensus checks, including validation of all signatures and blocks fields except for the execution payload transactions.
• consensus_and_equivocation: the same as consensus, with an extra equivocation check immediately before the block is broadcast. If the block is found to be an equivocation it fails validation.

If the block fails the requested level of a validation a 400 status MUST be returned immediately and the block MUST NOT be broadcast to the network.

If validation succeeds, the block must still be fully verified before it is incorporated into the state and a 20x status is returned to the caller.
